A lot of the top PC utilities software can be complex and difficult to use. There are dozens of menus and buttons everywhere that, much of the time, have ambiguous meanings for new users. If you are getting somewhat established with some of this software, here are some tips and tricks that can help you get through the day.
Adobe software like Adobe Acrobat Reader is used for the purpose of reading important documents as well as books. It is extremely useful and an essential tool for many PC users, but oftentimes people do not know exactly what to do about all the options, leaving documents zoomed out too far to read.
If you want to zoom in, you can hold the CTRL key and press either the plus or minus key on your keyboard. This will allow you to easily see the words on the document. If possible, hold CTRL and press the 4 key to reflow the words so there is no need to scroll left and right.
You are most likely using the hand tool to scroll up and down. You can actually change the mouse function so that you can select text within the document. Simply navigate to the tools menu and choose Select Cursor, which looks like the normal arrow pointer. With this you can highlight parts of the document to copy and paste them in emails or any other text document.
Microsoft Word is probably the most useful tool on the market today. Students and business owners use this program for all kinds of reasons, but sometimes it is a tedious task to find the toolbar with the mouse to change styles to bold, italics, or single and double spaced.
In Word, you can use the CTRL and 1 or 2 keys at the same time to switch from single and double spaced. This way you do not need to click the buttons at the top with your mouse, and you can even do it to individual paragraphs or even the whole document. Just highlight with the mouse what parts you need to switch around.
Again in word, if you hold the CTRL key and press either the B, I, or U keys, it will switch the writing style to either bold, italics, or underlined. Press the key again to toggle it off. This can be extremely useful because it removes the need to actually move the mouse and click the buttons.
Holding CTRL again and pressing the space bar this time will turn on AutoCorrect. This makes it so that when you make a mistake, Word will automatically change it to what it should be, though it does not always work correctly. When you are finished, press F7 and the program will check your spelling and grammar.
These are only a few tips for a couple of the top utilities for PC, but they can be a tremendous help for anyone who struggles with the software on a daily basis. Learn these hotkeys and you will be on your way to a more productive working day.
